The Mission Statement of the Burlington Police Department is:
In recognition of our responsibility to be responsive to the needs of our community, the Burlington Police Department shall nurture trust by providing quality Police services that promote the highest quality of life and sense of safety for all residents, businesses and guests. It is essential for members of our profession to realize we act not for ourselves, but for the good of the communities we serve.

Our Vision for the future is: In support of the Community Policing Philosophy, the Burlington Police Department has developed a vision that builds the framework for providing a quality service. Community Policing is both a philosophy and an organizational strategy that allows the police and community to work closely together in creative ways to solve the problems of crime, physical and social disorder, and improve the overall quality of life in our community. The philosophy rests on the belief that solutions to today's community problems demand creative new ways to address community concerns beyond a narrow focus of individual incidents.
