The City of Burlington provides electricity, sewer, and water service.  The City also contracts with an independent provider for trash hauling.  Burlington also provides recycling services, and once a year holds a citywide trash pick up for large items.

Setting up utilities:
To set up utilities, you will need to visit City Hall, located at the corner of 15th and Senter.  There is a $100.00 meter deposit that is charged for electrical and water connections and a $20.00 connect fee to have the meters read and placed in your name.  Sometimes, people wonder why they have to pay the connect fee if the lights are already on.  We leave the utilities on as a courtesy for property owners to protect against freezing and damage.

When moving out of town or to a new Burlington residence the deposit will become accessible to you.  It will either authomatically transfer to your new Burlington Residence when you inform us of youer move or be applied to your final bill.  If any credit remains after your final bill, we will return the unused portion to you.  Please make sure to provide us with a forwarding address.
