Home Offices and Home Occupations

If you are planning to conduct a business out of your residence there are several requirements which first must be met. Please contact the City Clerks office at 719-346-8652 to find out what is permitted in the area where you live. 

  

Constructing, Remodeling and Other Changes

Please check with our Economic Development Department or City Hall staff prior to making any changes - construction or use - to your place of business. Some changes require a building permit, and the City Staff can help you through the process prior to any construction changes. 

  

Please let our staff know if your business will need to obtain a liquor license in Burlington. As the City of Burlington falls within Kit Carson County, a license may be obtained and is required when handling food at any business establishment within Kit Carson County.  Please contact the Kit Carson County Health and Human Services Department at 719-346-7158 for more information.
