If you are planning to conduct a business out of your residence there are several requirements which first must be met. Please contact the Economic Development Department to find out what is permitted in the area where you live.

Constructing, Remodeling and Other Changes

Please check with our Economic Development Department staff prior to making any changes - construction or use - to your place of business. Some businesses are located in design guideline districts and have special requirements, including exterior paint colors. We can help you determine what is allowable under the Town Code and what permits may be necessary.

Please let our staff know if your business will need to obtain a liquor license in Burlington. As the City of Burlington falls within Kit Carson County, a license may be obtained and is required when handling food at any business establishment within Kit Carson County.  Please contact the Kit Carson County Health and Human Services Department at 719-346-7158 for more information.
